Let’s get the facts straight about the nutritive sweeteners (sugars). I will not defend HFCS; it is just as bad as sucrose or honey or fruit juice. It may even be ever so slightly worse for the following reasons: 1. Industry like to use it. 2. It’s a bit cheaper, thanks to US corn policies. 3. We love to eat it. but the root of the problem is the collision of our biology (we love sweetness) and our economic system (companies will sell what we will buy). What’s needed is some self-awareness, some discipline, and some education about health risks. That’s my goal with this video. I’m not here to point the finger of blame. I’m not here to offer scare tactics or corporate apologetics. These are the facts, as well as my take on the issue. I’m sure I made at least one factual error (not counting my backwards swastikas). First one to spot it will get a donation to MSF made in their name. Citations are here: www.mediafire.com More vids in progress on this topic. Fluoride and alcohol are in process.

Luksusowa Polish Vodka Exclusive Spirit at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival Tripple Ten Closing Party

Todd English & Matt Pomeroy shake up Luksusowa Vodka cocktails

(Vocus) October 13, 2010

Celebrity Chef, Todd English and internationally acclaimed mixologist, Matt Pomeroy shook up some fun with Luksusowa Vodka at Guy Fieri’s Triple Ten Closing Party for the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival on October 10th. Food Network celebrities and admirers alike celebrated the end to yet another exciting festival with Luksusowa cocktails specially-created for the event by Pomeroy and Guy Fieri.

Guests at the sold-out party enjoyed Pomeroy’s Polish Mojito and The Breakfast Cocktail, and Guy Fieri’s Ruby Glow (recipes below). Luksusowa, the Polish vodka whose name means ‘luxury,’ is a 100% gluten free potato vodka, which contributes to its outstanding mixibility for cocktails and unprecedented smoothness.

The exclusive use of specially cultivated potatoes with exceptionally high starch levels grown in the idealic Wielkopolska and Pomorze regions of Poland make Luksusowa a highly differentiated product from its grain counterparts. “The potatoes deliver a much more intense, richer character than any grain as well as a more luscious mouth-feel” explained Pomeroy. “Luksusowa Vodka, which has used the same recipe since 1928 and is the world’s #1 potato vodka, is now being coveted by top US mixologists who appreciate that, unlike many other flavorless vodkas on the American market, has a distinct potato character, creamy palate and long length that enhances today’s sophisticated vodka cocktails.”

hilahcooking.com It’s almost Halloween, and Hilah has created a bloody disgusting Halloween cocktail that is perfect for the occasion. As long as you’ve got a strong stomach! INGREDIENTS * 4 ounces white rum * 2 ounces pomegranate liqueur (or other red boozy stuff) * 1 ounce lime juice * Ginger ale * 2 teaspoons pomegranate molasses (leave this out if you can’t find it. It might be hard. I’m sorry. Or you could substitute strawberry jam!) * Fresh, grated ginger Put a teaspoon of pomegranate molasses (or jam! I truly am brilliant!) in the bottom of your glasses. Shake the rum, liqueur and lime juice together with ice. Pour carefully over the molasses (or jam!) so as not to stir up your blood clot too much. Top it off with as much ginger ale as you like, or will fit. Grate some ginger over the top. Garnish with a band-aid or tampon. JUST KIDDING.

Purple Pomegranate Sangria, by Melody Kettle

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

If you’re searching for that perfect party elixir, do yourself (and your budget) a favor, mix up a pitcher of Purple Pomegranate Sangria and kickback. And remember, this recipe contains anti-oxidants – it may actually be good for you. Here’s the recipe for Purple Pomegranate Sangria: 1 cup simple syrup (1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar) 1 bottle (750 ml) red wine 1 cup orange juice ¾ cup blackberry brandy ¾ cup triple sec Orange slices, lemon slices, cubed apples, blueberries, grapes. In a small pot, combine 1 cup of sugar and one cup of water. Bring to boiling point until sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Combine remaining liquids in a pitcher. Cover and refrigerate, if possible overnight. When ready to serve, float fruit in pitcher. Do not put ice in pitcher, as it will dilute the Sangria. *If you prefer your Sangria to be less sweet, add an extra bottle of red wine to the mix or adjust simple syrup to ½ cup. Montclair, NJ

Fall in Love with These Exotic ‘Cupid Cocktails’ this Valentine’s Day

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 8, 2009

Whether you dine in or dine out with your valentine, spice up the occasion with one of these exotic “cupid cocktails” made with Mekhong The Spirit of Thailand.

You will fall in love with this amazing new Thai spirit made mostly from sugar cane and rice and infused with a special blend of indigenous Thai herbs and spices.
